From Struggle to Strength: What Cancer Is Teaching Me About Coaching (and Life)

Cancer changes everything. It forces you to slow down, listen more closely, and focus on what really matters. As a coach, I’ve always encouraged others to lead with clarity and purpose. But facing my own health journey has deepened that message in a way I never expected. I’ve learned that strength isn’t always loud — sometimes, it’s quiet, steady, and built in the hard moments no one sees.
This experience has reminded me that success isn’t just about hustle — it’s about presence. It’s about being fully there for a client, a teammate, or a loved one. It’s helped me coach with more empathy, more patience, and a sharper understanding of the invisible battles others might be facing. Struggle can wear you down — but it can also sharpen your vision and expand your heart.
What cancer has taught me — and continues to teach me — is that life is short, but impact is lasting. Every conversation, every decision, every moment matters. And when we lead from that place, our work becomes more than business — it becomes legacy.
